Assessing the ballistics performance of combat helmets depends partly on the variability of projectile targeting and obliquity. The Ballistic Helmet Test Fixture provides several functions to improve testing accuracy and speed. A flexible clamping system securely holds the shell allowing shots at any location. The Helmet Obliquity Mirror in conjunction with adjustment points of the fixture allows obliquity to be obtained without having to change other adjustments. A set of positioning jigs provides accurate positioning of witness plates or clay for shell back-face deformation measurements. A mould improves consistency of the clay ball witness shape. The fixture is suitable for STANAG 2920 and MIL-STD-662F.
