Standardized industrial and sports eyewear standards already exist. But what if you have a scenario, either a situation or a projectile, that falls outside the scope of these standards? Biokinetics has investigated the eye injury potential of various objects, from less-lethal weapons to explosives ejecta. We have created our own eyeball surrogate sensors and we also have a FOCUS industry headform, which has ocular and other facial force sensor regions. We have several low, medium and high-speed projectile delivery options in our ballistic and biomechanics labs. Force time histories are recorded using load cells and signal conditioning equipment with data acquisition hardware and our own BioDAQ software.
